In fairness, it's a reasonable thing to worry about, for someone who has been so married to the past that he spent millenia trying to restore it-- it's still hard for him to think of leaving it behind once more, when it feels real enough that he half-thinks he could walk into the Bureau and find someone there to speak with of concepts.
