[PLAYER PLOT] What do you call an officially mandated boxing match?

WHO: Everyone (technically)
WHAT: Thedas!Model UN
WHEN: Now-ish
WHERE: The Gallows
NOTES: Mandatory team building in the form of a faux!diplomatic assembly. OOC Information is available here. Assignments and goals for non-handwaved characters are available here. These assignments are OOCly public, but ICly secret.

THE SETUP
When the day's assembly convenes, everyone receives a brief (aka long winded and diabolically good humored) introduction from Cassius. This introduction includes a description of the barely-fictional events motivating this auspicious meeting of the minds, the gist of which is:
With the flow of trade on the Minanter west of Starkhaven compromised and northern Nevarra still struggling to recover from the loss of Nevarra City, there are concerns that Tevinter will soon push to lay claim to the territory which lies between the Imperium's southern border and the north bank of the Minanter. This would have a serious immediate impact on Nevarra, but could also negatively affect trade more widely.

In light of Nevarra's fragmented rule, Divine Beatrix (in service to the interests of the Exalted March), has called for a general assembly to address the security of the region north of the Minanter. The assembly's goal is to devise and submit a cohesive plan to discourage or repel any potential incursion. However, as with all such meetings, the issues raised may range far from the official mandate as representatives attempt to take advantage of the situation to gather support for their own agendas.

Given the current state of the war and the multiple fighting fronts, each representative has limited resources with which to bargain. Consequently, a simple majority of the assembly must vote in support of the action draft for the resolution to be considered viable.

Once they've been briefed, everyone in attendance will receive an assignment which details the role they'll be assuming for the day, conditions they would find favorable, conditions which might be detrimental to them, and the currency (metaphorical or otherwise) with which they have to bargain.

At this point, everyone will be free to begin their negotiations to create their draft resolution. During the assembly, Cassius and his lovely assistant Yseult may occasionally interject with "developing updates" to simulate the receipt of news or directives from the leaders of various organizations [ooc: aka Cassius and/or Yseult may drop in to briefly threadjack discussions if it's comedic or interesting to do so. Feel free to request an interruption if at any point you start to feel rudderless].

THE TURN
At some point during the assembly—either when it's going very well, or when it's going very badly—Cassius will interrupt the proceedings to announce a major TWIST that changes the playing field and forces assembly members to react to unexpected new conditions.

At this point, the committee must decide whether they proceed with bolstering protections in Northern Nevarra, if they pivot to focus on the new developments, or if they pursue an entirely different course of action.

[ooc: While there are ostensibly requirements laid out for success/failure in the above prompts, and an element of gamification to the assignments, goals and priorities, please consider these IC elements more than OOC ones—this plot is really just here to inspire fun character interactions, and not necessarily to successfully achieve any diplomatic goals.

As a reminder, the assignments and goals are OOCly public, but ICly secret. Use this info responsibly.

Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions.]

kostos averesch, the templar order.

[ Shortly after acquiring his assignment, Kostos also acquired a sword. A wooden sword, specifically, meant for the most rudimentary level of training. He did not acquire a scabbard. He is sitting on a bench with his back to the table behind him, elbows on its surface pinning his sparse papers down, and the sword is lying on the bench beside him. That this leaves no room for anyone to sit next to him is a bonus feature.

His posture suggests he might be refusing to play at all. But if anyone approaches, either intentionally or on their way elsewhere, he does at least muster the enthusiasm required to say, ]

What are you supposed to be again?

Vanya Orlov, rebel mages

[Vanya thought about faking an injury to get out of this, especially when he received his assignment. Ultimately, though, he is here. He didn't make any changes to his normal, in-Gallows appearance, and he now worries that he's already behind due to lack of costume and props. (That is not his biggest worry.) However, he is incapable of purposely doing a bad job, so when he ends up next to a fellow agent, he says:]

What do you think, then? About ... border security?

[There is a reason he is not in the Diplomacy division.]

I: CALL 1-800-MAKER-NOW
[He's leaning back in his given seat, boots draped high across the table in front of him, resting over paperwork and crinkling its span.]

Here's a fun idea: why don't we all play a game called give me all your resources or the Maker's going to smite you.

II: (DIS)SOLUTIONS
[Okay, you know what.]

I feel like it's important to remind you all that I'm both incredibly fucking rich and incredibly fucking right, and therefore the only voice of authority at this table that ought to be agreed with: there's an island out in the middle of the bloody ocean, I don't think it's inhumane to suggest that if you're all going to be such clammy cracks about the idea of being practical and burning all rebel mages, that we just throw them onto that archipelago en masse without hands. Or tongues. One or the other, I suppose.

III: WILDCARD

[ooc: as always I am 100% down to wildcard BUT this time with the caveat of— so I can actually catch up w my inbox at last— please understand this is going to be mostly chatter on my end and very minimal action/introspection (I legit don't at all mind if you want to write a novel, I love that stuff with all my heart, just know if I tag back with like a sentence or two it's not me not caring, I'm just way behind after deadlines and exhaustion lol)]
