Without verbally volunteering, she readies herself to act as the spotter, in case of the unexpected. She's very used to this role. The ladder looks sturdy, but you never know what could happen.

"I really do think that's something people need. Sometimes it's all they really need--just to be heard. Not always, of course--and not for larger problems. But often those larger problems are composed of smaller problems, and if those can be seen to, or acknowledged, then the larger problems are sometimes easier to tackle. It's a bit like picking apart a knot when you think about it." She presses her foot against the lower rung of the ladder, testing it. Sturdy.
